Aristocut Beauty Marks 40 Years in Adelaide Arcade
This year, Aristocut Beauty celebrates a remarkable milestone — 40 years in Adelaide Arcade.
Owner and beauty therapist Lucy Taliangis began her journey in the Arcade in 1985 at just 21 years old, starting in Aristocut Hair & Beauty on the ground floor. In 1995, she moved upstairs to Shop 107, where she established Aristocut Beauty as her own business.
For four decades, Lucy has welcomed clients through her doors, many of whom she now considers part of her “second family.” Along the way, she has celebrated life milestones, including marriage, motherhood, and building lasting friendships in the community.
Lucy’s salon is steeped in the Arcade’s rich history. It sits next door to the former upstairs living quarters of Sydney Kennedy, a three-year-old boy who tragically passed away in 1902. Sydney is known as one of Adelaide Arcade’s most famous resident spirits. Lucy fondly describes Sydney as a “cheeky boy” who enjoys playing among her nail polishes and tools.
Adelaide Arcade, which opened in 1885 and celebrates its 140th anniversary in 2025, is one of Australia’s oldest shopping arcades and remains a vibrant hub of heritage, culture, and community. Lucy’s 40-year journey at Aristocut Beauty is a testament to the Arcade’s enduring spirit and the people who make it so special.
