what if I forget
Martina Beka will present her debut solo exhibition, what if i forget, in Adelaide Arcade’s underground tea room as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival from 3rd to 23rd March.

what if i forget is a culmination of the artist’s exploration of memory and material. Martina Beka draws inspiration from the wear and debris accumulated over time within her materials and site, referencing the traces of human interaction embedded in objects and spaces, to create a dialogue between environment, material and form. The materiality and methodology of this exhibition speak to the overlap of experiences had on and outside of found materials, as well as the energy inherently held in the materials themselves. The traces of experiences are vital to the aesthetic and conceptual rationale of the work, which explores themes of memory, forgetting, and the act of preserving or holding onto what could be forgotten, ultimately realised through the process of setting/concealing memories in metal.

The historic setting of the tea room is apt for this exhibit, where the works are designed to engage with the environment and enhance its raw, organic qualities.

Late night openings on Fridays to 9pm
Closing night event on 21^st March will finish at 10pm
