Celebrate International Dance Day at Adelaide Arcade
Grab your dance shoes and slip into your leotards; it’s International Dance Day!
Come and celebrate this Saturday, 29 April, at Adelaide Arcade and watch some incredible performances by the talented students of Terry Simpson Studios.
The performances start at 12pm in the centre of Adelaide Arcade and include character ballet, contemporary dance and a ballet solo.
In 1982, the Dance Committee of ITI founded International Dance Day to be celebrated every year on the 29th of April, the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), creator of modern ballet. The intention of the International Dance Day Message is to celebrate dance, revel in the universality of this art form, cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers, and bring people together with a common language – dance.
Terry Simpson Studios is Adelaide’s premier dance studio for Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, Jazz, Hip-Hop, SACE, and Full-Time Vocational Individual Dance coaching.
Founder and School Principal, Terry Simpson, is recognised as a dance educator rather than simply a ballet teacher. She believes that dancers require well-rounded training in all facets of dance and prides herself in creating an environment in her school where students can be the best that they can be, whether it is to go onto a career in the dance world, the Arts or in any other avenue.
Terry Simpson Studios is located upstairs, at Shop 212 Gay’s Arcade, in Adelaide Arcade.
