Adelaide Arcade Historical Photo Exhibition

Immerse yourself in the history of Adelaide Arcade

Come and explore our fascinating collection of photographs that document the rich history of Adelaide and Gay’s Arcade since 1885. These photographs showcase Adelaide Arcade’s resilience and progress over time, from being one of the first buildings in South Australia with electric lighting to the clever addition of the balcony level, which doubled Adelaide Arcade’s retail offering. The photographs also capture the devastating Gay’s Arcade fire in 1980.

The Adelaide Arcade Historical Photo Exhibition will be on display in the centre of Adelaide Arcade throughout May as part of South Australia’s History Festival. Take advantage of this opportunity to witness the evolution of one of South Australia’s most iconic landmarks.

If you’re interested in spending a bit more time in Adelaide Arcade’s past, we will be running guided tours of Adelaide Arcade every Wednesday in May. Find out more information here.
